my 436HP and another scanner are coupled to a GPS which means they automatically pick up the channels frequencies and systems that are local to where I am as I drive.

I frequently drive between Phoenix and SE Arizona  or Cochise county and Phoenix and Southern California...  If the GPS were not connected I'd have to know a zip code near to where I happen to be..

I've also used my scanners on board AMTRAK trains.  I know where the trains switch to a different dispatch frequency and can follow the train and dispatch communications throughout the entire trip.  NO TSA on trains so I take trains I'm not dealing with those Airport idiots.
