This mulicoupler, is it buffered by each having an built in attenuator? If not it could be an input impeadance/loading issue.

Try the discone direct to the radio first, then comeback.

It is a new Stridsberg active multicoupler that is described as providing the same unattenuated signal to each of 8 BNC outputs, so i doubt that changing ports will have an effect. But, no harm in trying.

Does the scanner properly receive any other programmed P25 trunking systems, simulcast sites or otherwise? Did you park the scanner on one of the frequencies in the system (not a control channel) to see if any of the transmissions are received. You may need to wait for a transmission, and  probably will not hear the entire conversation,  but it might tell you that the receiver is decoding P25 digital transmissions, but  not trunking.

Sentinel doesn't work on a bc796D but i have tried that using both uniden & proscan software

Try turning the mute off, then read the scanner, then write back and see what happens. It could be a part of the RAM in the scanner going bad. That unit is only what? 20 years old?

Check your volume offset and attenuator setting.

Hi Tim,

If you use a computer to program them you might try downloading the current download you have after first checking to see if MUTE is activated.

I have two BC796D's that have developed a issue where they now power up in mute mode. I have to hold mute for a few seconds after powering on the scanner to un-mute it. has anyone seen this and know how to resolve it

Just open it up and install a cigarette plug and a 3.5 mono hack and all will be ok. REMEMBER that volume control is inside unit.
