Re: Are we permitted to list items for sale on this group (specifically an SDS100 and SDS200)?
I do not agree - and not because I have any animosity toward Bostonians or the Red Sox
If you're interested in buying a radio, you by all means should join the sub-group for that particular

I don't think groups.io is a flop. I am in several very active groups. However a group for just 1 or 2 types of radios is going to be a very slow group/forum in most cases (the FT-857 group i'm in is

Michael, Joe is right, the two scanners are the same size. Approx 71/4" wide x 6" deep x 21/4" in height.

Ok, great idea...thank you.... although with 5 messages over the last several months on the 200 forum and a total of 5 all year in 2018, I doubt it will get much visibility.. I won't even bother

Re: Need P25 Scanner
Michael, I have both radios. The BCT15X was in my truck and I replaced it with the 996P2 when a few agencies switched to digital. I'll measure both radios and let you know tomorrow.

Re: Need P25 Scanner
The BCD996P2 is the exact same size as the BCT15X.
It works with FreeScan as long as you are using the latest beta version.

Re: Need P25 Scanner
I believe both your older scanner and the 996P2 are what is called a single DIN radio... DIN is an automotive standard where one AM/FM stereo radio fits the sleeve.A double DIN would be the larger

You can, but it would be better to list them on the scanner-specific lists since those will have people interested specifically in those

Need P25 Scanner
I have a BCT15X scanner in my truck that I love. However, some of the agencies I listen to have moved to P25 digital. I have a custom console holding my radios and would ideally like something that

Paul seemed to miss the point regarding the necessity for training and practising. Deploying first responders with any tool or piece of equipment without proper knowledge and training is dangerous

That's because raids are planned off the air. When was the last time you heard the PD say "Hey - do you want to hit 123 Main street tomorrow? Let's go in through the side door with 5 officers."

It is correct that with digital, the threshold between good and bad reception is very small. What is a VERY common misconception is that analog will just be starting to get noisy when the digital

If people show up and interfere, arrest them. That's why those laws exist. Poor judgement by a few does not justify full encryption.
