Re: A little behind the curve.
Low sensitivity on UHF. Only early units
had that issue, and then not all of them.
I had one that did and one that did not.

A little behind the curve.
I have not heard about the C1 diode problem. What are the symptoms?

A few months is prob ok for me. I have the SDS200 now and just about complete setting it up on ProScan so I’ll have a “mobile” solution.

Re: BCD436 - Send In to Uniden to...
I sent in a BC-898T that I bought on ebay for 50 bucks. No back light. Flat rate repair, fixed backlight, did firmware update. Had it back in a month. This was 2 months ago.

Re: BCD436 - Send In to Uniden to...
That is sorta meaningless without a timeframe.
A year ago I heard a couple months was the norm.
Last fall, I heard two weeks was the norm.
I have not heard anything from the past few months.

I had to send in my SDS-100 under warranty, and it took two months to receive it back. Status follow up calls did not offer any assistance.

BCD436 - Send In to Uniden to...
I’m thinking of selling my 436 after getting a SDS200 for Christmas. I’d like to be sure it’s 100% before putting it up for sale. Example…having the C1 diode checked/added if needed.

it's perfectly lawful, but involves the technicalities of the Uniform Commercial Code, which is outside the scope of this Group. The radio will be in Uniden's capable hands, so everything's fine.

HRO would not replace (15 day return policy), so I shipped it to Uniden under mfr. warranty. As a 50+ year commercial law attorney I might have questioned HRO's return policy, but it wasn't worth

I wuuld agree that you may have a lemon. I have 4 BCT15X’s and 2 BCT15’s plus aa couple of 996xt’s, 2 SDS200’s and seveeral others and find them to be great scanners, but there is always that

Re: BCT15X Sensitivity
The local NOAA signal is too strong for testing purposes, but I receive the Eastern Shore (162.5), about 30 miles away, 5-9 on the other radios. The 15X does not hear it at all. I won't open the radio

A cheap troubleshoot is to tune to a weak NOAA weather station and use a plastic probe to jiggle the connector inside from BNC connector and the board? Only a thought.

I reprogrammed using ProScan, no attenuation either global or by system. I am avoiding anything that would invalidate the warranty. I propose to return it to the vendor for credit or exchange.

Re: Looking for Suggestions
Just a thought...
They look like they just have smoke/soot damage. No obvious evidence of Fire or water damage. Have you tried cleaning them up, trying a power up?
good luck either way...
