Re: Antenna for my minivan
I bought this magnetic antenna through Amazon, works well. I would, however, the the BNC connector end. I somehow ordered the PL-259 end, but a PL-259 to BNC converter took care of that.

Very interesting antenna, Bernie.
I was wondering if you monitor airbands with it?
Thanks,

Re: Antenna for my minivan
If there is a specific system you want to listen to, it makes sense to look for an antenna tuned to the appropriate band of frequencies.
On the other hand, if you are interested in general scanning

I bought the Compactenna scanner antenna and a mag-mount for it. Only
8 inches tall so never has to come off for parking garages. Very
rugged and seems to receive well. I bought an extension cable

Re: Charhing Disabled
Does that model have a switch in the battery compartment to disable charging when you’re using (non-rechargeable) alkaline batteries?

Jim:
If you can, use a Maha type charger to refresh the batteries. It sounds like one (or more) batteries have gone bad. The charger will tell you if there is a short in one.
You should always charge

The reason is market share..
In the area of desktop and laptop computers, Microsoft Windows is generally above 70% in most markets and at 77% globally, Apple's macOS at around 13%, Google's ChromeOS

Does anyone have any thoughts about updating an HP-2 using a MAC? I hate to ask for favors, but I wonder why there hasn’t been an application for MAC users.

Possibly bad batteries? Try fresh new rechargeable batteries. SOmetimes when your Scanner sits up unused for a year the rechargeable batteries just got bad. I've seen this many times!
