Re: Ludlow, MA - DMR
Did an FCC search for Ludlow. Showing 3 repeater frequencies assigned to the Police Dept. under callsign WQEY264. Maybe they are using these freqs now?
Try these: 453.3125 453.4625

Re: Ludlow, MA - DMR
Make sure you are listening carrier squelch (no PL) on the analog scanner. If you are hearing nothing, then it means that the agency you are trying to hear on the frequency has changed frequency.

Re: Ludlow, MA - DMR
Hi Milt,
Thanks for the very valuable clarification here. I'm sorry I didn't immediately see how you were "testing" this. To answer your questions:
Yes, the frequency is the same as it was

Re: Ludlow, MA - DMR
The purpose of my suggestion was to determine if your radio is hearing any signal at all. Before the radio can decode digital transmissions like P25 or DMR it must hear the transmission.

Hi, so if I "hold" on the channel I don't think I see the signal strength unless something activates it, right? And I have held on that channel way more than long enough for there to be activity yet

Re: Ludlow, MA - DMR
Backing up, if you program the channel as NFM or FM analog conventional and hold on it, do you hear ANYTHING or see any indication that the radio is receiving a signal?

Re: Ludlow, MA - DMR
Gary - You're right re threshold not at the Dept Level. I set it to Manual.
Joel - Re - "Try changing the NFM to Digital using Sentinel" NFM shows up at the frequency level as Auto in Sentinel.

For trunk systems, I think it's at the Site Level. For conventional it's set at the System level.

Re: Ludlow, MA - DMR
Thanks Gary. I find that setting at the Department level, and it's an 8. I then "thought" I found it for the Municipality (and it was an 8) but I can't find it again!

Check the digital threshold level. For DMR I usually use 8.

Hi There,

Yep. Earphones are typically 1000ohms, most non piezo speakers like HSN4031A are 8ohms
Wont get any volume out of an earphone socket if you stick it in there.
Basic ohms law applies....

Re: Amplified Speaker
The HSN4031A is a non-amplified speaker. Will not get driven well from a headphone jack. It will work fine with a radio that has an EXTERNAL SPEAKER jack.
