If you are trying to listen to a Harris (name of the radio manufacture) ProVoice, Then NO! There is no Radio made that can decrypt it. It is Encrypted. “Unless the User of that system opens it up.” For instance. Where I live is in Mobile County Alabama At one time The City of Mobile had all its channels blocked by encryption. They now have a few of those opened up so you can hear a little. But within the County there are 7 other Cities that use the same system. All of them are completely encrypted……….

You don’t need an upgrade for P25. The three upgrades are DMR, NXDN and ProVoice. My area has systems that use all three. Some law enforcement and fire/rescue in my area use ProVoice.

That link was very helpful! If I had those upgrades installed, and I selected my area by zip code on the SDS100, would systems operating in DMR, NDXN and P25 be automatically monitored or would additional programing be required to receive them?
Thanks, this has been a big help.

There's a lot more than what's on RR.. https://digitalfrequencysearch.com/index.php helped me find a LOT of DMR, NDXN and P25 that wasn't in RR.

Unless there has been a price increase on the upgrades, they are a bit less than $75 each and not the same price. One is $60, another is $50, another is $49.xx (.95 or .99, something like that). Not sure which is which as far as price. It’s been a while. The SDS100 is a great radio for digital stuff, especially if you have it set up with GPS. I’ve had my for two years.

I just ordered an SDS100, without the optional DMR and two other optional upgrades due to their expense of $75 each. Am I making a mistake? I am not a “programmer” or “techie” user. I just monitor the local agencies in my community as I am part of our Emergency Management Team. Thanks,

Look at Radio Reference for your area. See if there are systems that use DMR, etc that you want to listen to. If not, don't worry about them. You can always upgrade later if you find you want to listen to them.

Depends if you need them. There's a lot of NXDN and DMR near me, so the upgrades were worth it.

Re: Searching BCD436HP database
In the old days, multiple entries was a method used to fake
'priority' of some channels, just put them into more spots to hear
them faster, but now we deal with lists, entirely different. There may be some duplication of frequencies when you group your favorites as counties, if there is a wider area system being monitored. Each such group enabled would cause duplication. Some of those systems may even cross state lines as well (i.e. Yellowstone Nat'l Park is in three states, several counties). That should cause no listening 'harm' in most cases, unless they are particularly chatty, which questions their need to be heard (avoid, repeat as needed). It is doubtful that Sentinel will filter out duplicates in these cases, because it doesn't know which favorite you'll use at any moment. Likewise, a scanner won't either.(A truly 'smart' scanner wouldn't program favorite lists as
frequencies, but as hooks into the full database, so that when the
database is updated, all the favorites update without user
intervention. Then include what was manually added.) I appreciate the efforts of RR and the admin staff, they do a
terrific job. Not to hijack this thread but I would still
like to see a RR database sort posted for all the frequencies used
by federal agencies grouped together by discipline (BLM, BIA, NFS,
NPS, USFS). Then include that database sort, into Sentinel
outside the current state lists (make a Fed list in addition to
state, not break it to only within the state/territory). It would
greatly simplify programming for 'fire season'. The reason is that traveling crews/equipment often utilize their 'home' channels, no matter where they are working (fire crews, aircraft, strike teams) and those home channels are not listed as local, so wouldn't currently be included for programming. Having all known channels for an agency would make for simpler programming without the user digging through every possible place they'd come from. Thanks! Rick NK7I

On the radioreference admin side as I'm an admin, if there are duplicate talkgroups in the same system, it will 'flag' these and we will know. Frequencies; likely will be duplicated, but you have to take note if they have different PL-DPL's. If they are the same frequencies and PL-DPL's in the same city or county, send a submission to radioreference on the frequency page in question to get it looked into and/or corrected. In Michigan I have gone through every county in the state and fixed and removed duplicated frequencies I think last year. They do exist, but likely not in MI. :)

1. Yes - it can hold more/longer recordings.

2. The max is at least 128GB. I've never actually tried 256GB. 2A. The official spec'ed max is 32GB. 3. Are you using SIMPLE MODE? (not sure what 'name 1' is) 4. I just copy-n-paste into Sentinel. Joe M.

SD card: Would there be an advantage to using a higher capacity card? If so, what is the maximum you can use? Screen setup: One thing I would to see is larger font size for user id name. I have seen the option for name1, etc to accommodate longer names, but would like for larger font. Import/Export user id info: Is there a way to import/export user Id/name from spread sheet or .text file?

I have ran into problems with my sds100 cutting out in the middle of a conversation a lot, not to go to a close call. It would just mute and start again. I couldn’t find anything on how to fix it and it was annoying... I found that turning off Close Call is the fix to this problem. So if you are running into this problem, give it try and see if that helps out like it did for mine.
