Hi everybody my name is Mike and I have 7396s

Richard Heightchew

I have 7 both t and XD models and I love the 396 is a great little radio so I'm interested in joining this group to see what people are listening to and to help the group out I think it's the best radio unit I ever put out I have 30 uniden radios  of them

Uniden BCD996 DIN mounting frames

Bote Man

Is there anyone left who might need the DIN mounting frame/bracket that came with the BCD996 scanner series?

I have 2 here that I never used, "brand new in the box", including the 2 thin Removal Keys. They seem like something that is just rare enough for an enthusiast with an older car to need with no way to buy them any longer.

I don't think I've heard that they stopped, but I do not know.

Low sensitivity on UHF. Only early units had that issue, and then not all of them.

I had one that did and one that did not.

A few months is prob ok for me. I have the SDS200 now and just about complete setting it up on ProScan so I’ll have a “mobile” solution.

it's perfectly lawful, but involves the technicalities of the Uniform Commercial Code, which is outside the scope of this Group. The radio will be in Uniden's capable hands, so everything's fine.

Les,

I’m sure Uniden will make things right for you. On the rare occasion that I have needed their support it’s always been good.

(What about HRO’s return policy do you find unlawful or questionable?)

I wuuld agree that you may have a lemon. I have 4 BCT15X’s and 2 BCT15’s plus aa couple of 996xt’s, 2 SDS200’s and seveeral others and find them to be great scanners, but there is always that one that’s a problem.

Re: BCT15X Sensitivity

The local NOAA signal is too strong for testing purposes, but I receive the Eastern Shore (162.5), about 30 miles away, 5-9 on the other radios. The 15X does not hear it at all. I won't open the radio since it will void the Uniden warranty. I am packing it up and returning it to Uniden under warranty. Despite all your valuable suggestions, I just think i unfortunately received a lemon and cannot invest more time in troubleshooting. Thank you all.

A cheap troubleshoot is to tune to a weak NOAA weather station and use a plastic probe to jiggle the connector inside from BNC connector and the board?  Only a thought.
