Then patching to Aux, Cassette adapter or FM modulator are all perfect solutions allowing sound to be played on the car stereo as loud as you like. But, then again, using an earphone is cheap and simple if one doesn't want to use any of those other things. I agree that an " external speaker jack " is specific, where " audio output " is indeed very general and not specific. My apologies to those I may have confused.

Thanks everyone for the input! Those of you who run the BC23A Uniden speaker do you find issues with the auto off feature on this speaker? Have you disabled it? Good input on the aux input through the stereo or an FM modulator too.. Chris

Like everyone else, I have a 436, run it through the speakers in my car with the Aux cord. I have a Honda Accord Hybrid.
It works great. Plus is you can turn it up or down with the volume controls on the steering column.

If your car has an audio AUX port, use a stereo patch cord from the headphone output to the AUX input and listen over the stereo. I have a car that has one and a car that doesn't have an AUX port, and in that car I installed an FM modulator. The FM modulator does the same thing as the AUX port, allowing me to patch in an audio source (mpe3, scanner, etc.) to play over the stereo. If your car has a cassette player, a cassette adapter is a cheap and simple solution. Good luck.

If they’re still available, the Radio Shack amplified mobile speaker worked great for me, and remained reliable through years of use. I used an inline power switch on its 12v supply and it worked well. I think the speaker has a relay that shuts it off when there’s no audio. The stores are gone, but RS still sells online.

I use one of these things and it works fine.
I connect my handheld scanner's earphone jack to this device's AUX input, and then feed that to an unoccupied FM broadcast frequency on my car's FM receiver. It sounds excellent.

No, the 435 does not have an external speaker jack.

My personal favorite amplified speakers are from Motorola or GE - those 6" x 6" ones from the 90s. As for power, run it off the ACCessory line in your car. (no relay required) Joe M.

If color code 5 is set, it has to be digital only for the audio type.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
The color code option is only available after that is selected. You will hear all the TGs regardless. If you want to program it as OFT, you can select specific TGs to hear and use ID SCAN. Yes you can import just one city into a FL. Joe M.

Hi Guys! Thank you so much! Super sorry I should have told you the radio - the BCD436HP. And my first actual "use" of DMR!

Not sure how to program a 1 freq trunk, but guessing I can look that up. I'd love to do that. Audio Type? Is that on the scanner only? In the software I have Modulation Auto, Color Code 5 under Audio Option - but not sure where Audio Type is.. In the software, on the radio or both? It doesn't look like it's a trunked system, on RRDB.. Can I still prog as trunk and hear talk groups? I don't have to - I'm interested in hearing it all.. As usual - one question always brings many more from me.. Can I take just one city in a county from the Full/New DB and bring that down into a FL with a bunch of other stuff in it? So I'd be just updating that one city? It SHOULD re-make my FL - since it's been years since I touched it! Aside: Is there a group for the SDS100? I'm thinking of getting one. Or Joe - is there a new scanner coming out? I notice most places are sold out of the SDS100. Thanks - As always. - Maggie

You need to change system type from Motorola to DMR. It might be easier to update directly from RRDB to get this right. It would help to know which radio you have for more detailed help Joel R Kahn
