Re: No sound on search results.
I programmed the System as a Conventional and set the Audio as Digital in the settings. Coming in loud and clear on the Uniden as well as the TRX1.

Where does it show that speaker (below) as an AMPLIFIED speaker? It looks like a very simple 5-watt, 8-ohm speaker. There is nothing so show amplification or power.

This is a great little amplified speaker. Just connect the power lead to the something powered off the ACC position of your ignition switch and ypu should be good to go.

I moved my two BCD536HP's to a different location in the office for convenience and now I cannot get audio out of one. Is there possibly a muting function I enabled during the move? Even tried with squelch completely off and volume at maximum.
Thanks! Tim

Re: Amplified Speaker
Interesting thought about the BCT15X. You can specify which channels go to the recording output. So, you could send your priority or important channels to the record output and connect an amplified speaker or feed it to your aux input on your stereo. Then, if you turn down your main audio of all channels, the important stuff will come out loud to grab your attention.

BCT15X recording output connected to aux in on Pioneer CD/radio. Sounds good! Allows separate volume control of scanner's built-in speaker, too.

I have the BC23A Uniden speaker installed in my vehicle for my HP436. Great sound and volume but I really don't like the AUTO OFF feature. If there isn't constant radio traffic and the radio is silent, you will miss the first transmission when radio traffic resumes. Also, when navigating the radio, you will not hear the first beep when pressing the keypad. Being conditioned to hear a beep every time a keypad is pressed, I would think my first keypad stroke didn't take. I found, pressing down on the volume knob twice would activate the speaker and then I would complete my keypad strokes hearing all beeps. It would be nice to be able to disable this auto off feature, but I am completely satisfied with this speaker and glad I purchased it.

Those of you who run the BC23A Uniden speaker do you find issues with the auto off feature on this speaker? Have you disabled it?
Good input on the aux input through the stereo or an FM modulator too..

I use a Bluetooth transmitter plugged in to the top of the HP436 and pair it to a Bose Sound Link speaker. You can turn the volume up with the Bluetooth speaker.

Then patching to Aux, Cassette adapter or FM modulator are all perfect solutions allowing sound to be played on the car stereo as loud as you like. But, then again, using an earphone is cheap and simple if one doesn't want to use any of those other things. I agree that an " external speaker jack " is specific, where " audio output " is indeed very general and not specific. My apologies to those I may have confused.

Like everyone else, I have a 436, run it through the speakers in my car with the Aux cord. I have a Honda Accord Hybrid.
It works great. Plus is you can turn it up or down with the volume controls on the steering column.
