Re: Recording
The record jack is a 1/8” jack. I have two cords at least, that I can use. I’ll take a look at that with the earbuds like you suggested Don. Thanks!

I would expect the record out jack to output audio to patch with a cord to a recorder. Take a look at the jack to tell what size the cord needs to be. Preview the sound with an earbud to know what comes out. I have used a mono patch cord to record from a scanner to a digital recorder, but the scanner's output needed to be very low for VOX to work.

Re: Recording
Someone suggested getting an older Android phone and downloading the Voice Activated Recorder app to it. I tried it on my own Galaxy. phone and it worked, but I want to be able to plug it into the record jack on the back of the scanner. Unless I can turn off the external Mike on the phone and still record that way with the phone connected to the Scanner.

Re: Recording
Yes, I was just looking at the 7200 on EBay for $25US, or$31.25 Canadian. Shipping is about $34 cdn. I’ll have a look around the area here first though.

The Olympus VN-7200 should only cost around $30, not $91.

Re: Recording

Now's the time to invest in a digital voice recorder with VOX. I suggest the Olympus vn-7200. it's very economical on batteries and has a built-in mic. It can run for days on one set of batteries. If you use a patch cord from headphone out to mic input, you may need that to be an attenuated patch cord so hiss doesn't defeat the VOX function. VOX takes advantage of compressing playback time, eliminating the silent periods you don't want to wait through.

Thanks for all the reply’s. I’ll check some more sources in my area again and see if I can come up with a something I can use. I used to have an old portable cassette recorder years ago that was vox operated, but don’t have it around anymore.

Re: No sound on search results.
On some systems the Control Channel changes frequencies, sometimes everyday, sometimes at midnight.
I was hearing voices on 854.8125 yesterday and the day before, but today silence and after a little while a steady buzzing noise. Control channel? Didn’t pick up any other 800 MHz frequencies for the short time I was at that particular location. --

Re: SDS100

Just as an FYI:- I had to send my SDS100 back to Uniden for repair. Whenever I turned it on, it would download the appropriate databases then immediately make a rhythmic open and close squelch sound. To make sure it wasn’t some spurious station I hit the “avoid” button. That did not make any difference, but the channel did advance. If I hit “avoid” ten times it would move the channel ten times then stop and begin the rhythmic squelch. I then increased the squelch to full on (#10) and moved to a multitude of different locations, none of which made any difference.
I consider myself lucky, as my one-year warranty is up in May!!

On which? DMR? You shouldn't hear anything on encrypted or a DMR

control channel - unless you don't have the DMR activated.

Re: No sound on search results.
I made a few adjustments and it seems to be working a lot better now. Unchecked the boxes in Limit search from P25, NXDN, etc., set the Adc and Dac to default values. I set the dsp to default 64.

On control channels you hear nothing. You see the color

code, and usually the slot flashes between 1 and 2. Joe M.

Re: No sound on search results.
Ok, I see. I though there would be a tone, or noise of some sort. I noticed in the TRX1 manual on page 61 that the ADC and DAC default settings are+0dB and DSP Level Adapt is 64 so I just reset it to those values.

Re: No sound on search results.
Yes Sir, that could be the case, but it was silent, no sound. EncMode was on Tone and EncLevel -24. The Adc gain -2. DacGain -5. The later two settings I found on Radio Reference. “Especially for mobile” it said.

Potentially it's either a control channel, or encrypted.
