close call range

Good morning everybody I just have a quick question I feel like I'm not using my call as much as I should what is the range of my close call on my XT.

That depends on the power of the TX and the band. It can be anything from n/a for things like flea power headsets to 75-100 feet for portables to 1 mile for mobiles to several miles for base stations or mobiles (especially if you are using an outside antenna).

Well thank you very much that means that some guy at Costco is going to be wondering why I'm following him around  he has a portable or I can just sit in the car and wait for him to walk by but thank you very much.
