Hi folks
I have had this scanner now for years and finally with the help of RadioReference.com got it programmed to receive trunking. I put one SCAT site in each Bank. When I hit scan it locks on to Bank 4 (Torbay) and I get activity for Clarenville and Bonavista. The scanner keeps flashing FM and Data between Conversations and then Apco25 during conversation. It stays on Bank 4 and that seems fine. Then I go to another part of the Island to visit friends and when I hit scan the scanner just scans all 6 Banks and receives nothing. Go back home turn it on and it works fine again. The RR info is listed below, any info would be appreciated. Can you receive a control channel (when you go to the other part of the island?) Sounds like either you are out of range or in an area that uses Pro-Voice which no scanner can monitor.

Thanks for the reply Dave
No I do not lock on to a control channel in Badger. Where it works fine is on the east coast in Elliston, Trinity @ 300Km as the crow flies and I visit friends in Badger right on top of the Icon (transmitter location), This is a repeated system so you would think it should not matter about distance. I am not sure about Pro-Voice, but the system is used by the RCMP right across the island. cable03 [1] [Logout [2]] · Mobile [3] · Help [4] [5] [6] [7] * * * @import url( /styles/ajaxTooltipTop.css ); Home Collaborate [8] Reports [9] History [10] NL Trunking [11] Submit [12] Watch [13] Admin [14] STANDARD COLOR LEGEND Updated in the last 7 days Updated in the last 24 hrs Last Updated: January 23, 2009, 8:35 pmCanada [15] > Newfoundland and Labrador [16] > Newfoundland Provincial Radio [17] NEWFOUNDLAND PROVINCIAL RADIO CLARENVILLE (SCAT) SITE DETAILS strtoupper(" System Name: ") Newfoundland Provincial Radio [18] strtoupper(" Location: ") St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador strtoupper(" Site Number: ") Decimal: 001 / Hex: 1 strtoupper(" Unique DB Site ID: ") 12386 strtoupper(" Site Description: ") Clarenville (SCAT) strtoupper(" Site County Location: ") N/A strtoupper(" Site Neighbors: ") _None_ strtoupper(" Site Location: ") _None_ strtoupper(" Site Connect Tone: ") _None_ strtoupper(" Site Modulation: ") _None_ strtoupper(" Site Notes: ") _None_ strtoupper(" Latitude ") N 48.9147222222 strtoupper(" Longitude ") W -56.0505555556 strtoupper(" Range ") 200 Miles SITE LICENSES _None Assigned_ Terms of Use Map Satellite Hybrid RR Map 10 mi 20 km Copyright 2010 by RadioReference.com LLC Privacy Policy [19] | Terms and Conditions [20] On Sun 1/08/10 9:44 PM , Dave afdltret@... sent: Can you receive a control channel (when you go to the other part of the island?) I am not sure what to tell you. Basically if you are not hearing a control channel, you will not receive anything. I also notice that there are 2 systems listed for the Provincial Police which is the Edacs System with both analog and Pro Voice and also a P-25 tdma Phase 2 which is also not receivable with any scanner at this time. If you go to that area again enter any control channels for the P-25 Phase 2 system and see if you hear any noise. The other possibility is you are missing a control channel for the area you are having problems???
